Entry Information

How do I enter?

You can enter online or in person at UniRec. Businesses that are paying for a team on their employees’ behalf can pay via invoice. Click here for more info on how to enter.

When do the entries close for each league?

Entries close the Thursday prior to the first game of each league. Click here to view the 2022 league dates.

How do I know if there are spaces left to enter a team?

Notifications of leagues which are full will be displayed on the website and via Facebook as soon as the league is full.

Can we pay our entry fee weekly?

Payment for team entries can only be taken in one sum and must be paid before the entry deadline for each league.

I'm keen to play, but don't have a team to play with. How do I join?

Social Sport knows not all groups of friends are keen on playing. So, we have also set up a Facebook group for people like you here.

League Details

What are the league dates?

There are a number of Indoor and Outdoor leagues which run throughout the year. All of the 2022 league dates can be viewed here.

How social are the leagues?

Social Sport caters for a wide range of abilities and fitness levels – from newbies through to skilled and experienced players. No matter what your ability, there is something to suit everyone. This is supported by Social Sport’s Level of Play and Ladder System which ensures that teams will play a similar level of competition each week.

How does the Ladder System work?

Teams are initially placed on the ladder based on their selected Level of Play. Each week, teams are matched up against teams in a similar position on the ladder. Teams move up and down the ladder depending on the week's results. The ladder helps to ensure that each team can enjoy the best possible experience.

Where are the games played?

All games are played on campus at the University of Waikato. Our Indoor Series takes place inside UniRec – the University’s on-campus fitness centre (Gate 1, Knighton Road, Hamilton). The Outdoor Series takes place on the campus sports fields (Knighton Road / Ruakura Road, Hamilton).

Do you have a women’s only grade?

Not at the moment. All current leagues are mixed.

Teams

Do we need to wear a uniform or numbered shirts?

Uniforms are compulsory for our football and touch leagues. This policy not only helps our referees, but makes your team look awesome! Simply coordinating a team colour will suffice as team uniform. If you would like us to help you find a cheap option for your team, just contact us through this site.
Bibs are provided in our netball leagues to define team and position.

We are a team looking for more players. How do we find them?

If your team is short on numbers, join our Players' Facebook page here. Alternatively, contact us and we will see if we can source players on your behalf.

Individuals

I want to play but don’t have a team. How can I get involved?

We are happy to put you into contact with teams looking for players if you contact us. Alternatively, you can post on our Facebook page that you are looking for a team to join.

I am keen to referee / umpire - how do I do this?
